The ingredients needed to make Mullangi Chutney Radish Chutney:
  1. Take 1 Radish (wash and peel off the skin,cut into small pieces)
  2. Get 5 shallots
  3. Prepare 1/4 inch Tamarind small ball
  4. Get 2 tsp Bengal Gram Dal
  5. Make ready 2 tsp Urad Dal
  6. Get 2 tsp Coriander Seeds
  7. Get 3 Dry Red Chillies
  8. Make ready 3 Garlic pods
  9. Take 2 tsp Oil
  10. Make ready 1 Tbsp Grated Coconut (optional)
  11. Prepare to taste Salt
  12. Get as needed Water
  13. Get For Tempering
  14. Make ready 1 tsp Oil
  15. Get 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  16. Take 1/2 tsp Urad Dal
  17. Prepare 2 tsp Curry leaves

I am not that fond of radish in sambar or poriyal but love it in the form of koftas, vadais and parathas. The Mullangi Thogayal is a spicy chutney that tastes great when mixed with rice and ghee. It can be a great side dish for rotis or phulkas. Saute until the radish (mullangi) is softened.

Steps to make Mullangi Chutney Radish Chutney:
  1. Place a sautepan in the stove. Switch on the flame. Add Radish pieces and oil. Keep the flame in medium and stir fry till the raw smell goes off.
  2. Add onions to it and saute till it becomes translucent. Atlast add tamarind and saute for a minute. Switch off the flame.
  3. In another saute pan, add bengal gram dal, urad dal, coriander seeds, dry red chillies and curry leaves. Dry roast in medium flame. Do not burn.
  4. Atlast add garlic pods, fry for a minute and switch off the flame. Cool it completely.
  5. First grind the dry roasted ingredients. And then add the Radish mixture,grated coconut and salt, along with that powder and grind to form a smooth paste by adding some water.
  6. In a tadka pan, add the ingredients given for tempering, fry it. Add this to the ground chutney. Mix well.
  7. Now it's ready to serve. Serve it with hot rice.

It can be a great side dish for rotis or phulkas. Saute until the radish (mullangi) is softened. Once softened, add the cooked mullangi thogayal ingredients into the turbo chop along with the soaked tamarind and.
