The ingredients needed to make Usal (Sprouted beans):
  1. Prepare 1 cup Moth beans
  2. Get 1 medium onion (Finely chopped)
  3. Get 1/2 tsp sugar
  4. Take As per taste salt
  5. Get 2 tsp oil
  6. Make ready 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  7. Take 1 green chilli or 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  8. Take 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  9. Make ready For garnishing:

Steps to make Usal (Sprouted beans):
  1. Wash and soak moth beans for 6-7 hours. Remove most of the water and keep in a warm space to sprout covered with a damp cloth. When the moth beans sprout it's ready to be cooked.
  2. Heat a pan, add oil. When oil is hot add cumin seeds, fry for 10 sec and add onion. Cook onions until soft add remaining spices and sprouts do 1/2 tbsp water. Cook with partially covered pan. On mid low heat.
  3. After 5 mins add sugar and mix well. Cook for 10 more min on low flame or till sprouts are cooked.
  4. Serve hot, garnished with chopped coriander and lemon juice.
