Foods That Make Your Mood Better

A lot of us have been taught to think that comfort foods are bad and are to be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to eat. There are several foods that, when you consume them, can better your mood. When you are feeling a little down and are needing an emotional pick-me-up, test out some of these.

Eggs, you may be astonished to discover, are terrific at fighting depression. Just make sure that you do not throw away the yolk. Every time you wish to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk in particular, are high in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for boosting your mood. This is because they improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Eat some eggs to jolly up!

Put together a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all great for helping to boost your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to increase your production of serotonin. Serotonin is called the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more serotonin in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, specifically, are a terrific source of protein.

If you want to overcome depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3s. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can basically help you fight back depression.

It’s easy to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really wonderful for helping boost your happiness levels. They can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. It’s not difficult to feel a little bit off when you feel hungry! These grains can help your mood elevate as it’s easy for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is actually excellent for your mood. You were sure green tea had to be in this article somewhere, right? Green tea is found to be packed full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this specific amino acid can essentially induce brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while simultaneously relaxing the rest of your body. You likely already knew how easy it is to become healthy when you drink green tea. Now you know green tea can help raise your mood as well!

So you see, you don’t need to stuff your face with junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Try some of these instead!
