The ingredients needed to make Modak:
  1. Take 1 cup rice flour
  2. Prepare 1 cup grated raw coconut
  3. Take 3/4 cup (finely crushed) jaggery
  4. Get 1 tbsp Desi ghee
  5. Take 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  6. Prepare 2 pinch salt
  7. Prepare 2 Tbsp cashew nuts
  8. Get 1 tbsp raisins
  9. Make ready 4-5 green cardamom
  10. Prepare 2-3 green cardamom seed
  11. Prepare as needed Tulsi leaves

Steps to make Modak:
  1. Firstly knead the rice flour for making modak. So for this, heat 1cup water in any utensil and them bring it in use. Now add sugar and 2tsp ghee, tulsi leaves, green cardamom in water.
  2. After boiling water, add rice flour in the water now. Mix it properly for 2min. Now stove off
  3. Now cover dough for 5 min and then knead it.
  4. Meanwhile prepare stuffing for modak. So add poppy seeds in heated pan. Stir constantly and roast for 1-2 minutes. Now it take out bowl
  5. Now add jaggery in the pan. Let the jaggery melt nicely. After jaggery is melted now add grated coconut to it. Cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Now add crushed cashew nuts, poppy seeds and raisins. And mix it well.
  7. Turn off the gas and add cardamom powder into it. Now let the stuffing get frigid
  8. Now knead dough and make it soft. Take out flour in plate and mash it with spoon. Knead ot with your hands moment it gets cool.
  9. Grease you hands with little ghee and knead it until it become soft
  10. Take little amount of mixture (lemon size) in you hands and make a round ball. Flatten it with your palm and fingers.
  11. Keep the corner thin and thick from center. Now dig for filling stuffing.
  12. Now place 1 tbsp stuffing in it. Now give it a shape of flower. And seal it from all sides. Modak ready to steam.
  13. Take any utensil in which we can steam the modak's easily.
  14. Add water 1&1/2 cup water. When water starts boiling we will steam modaks
  15. Grease the sieve with ghee. Place modaks at some distance in the sieve.
  16. Steam modaks for 10- 12 minutes.
  17. Modak are cooked properly now and appear shiny.
  18. Modak have become frigid, serve them in a plate
